Horrific horror stories

Eyo! I'm Lostris, a Fandom WIki Representatives working with entertainment communities. Per good tradition, Halloween is the time of year to celebrate the dark side of entertainment, and that's exactly why I'm here!

Rather than just me telling people in a horror-themed blog at the end of the month about why celebrating Halloween is fun and watching horror movies is a whole mood, we'd like the users of our horror communities to be the ones to tell others. You're the experts after all!

As such, I would love it if you could share some of your experiences and insights with me, so I could -- with your permission of course -- quote you in the blog. If you don't know where to start, I'd love to hear more about:

  • Why do you love horror?
  • Why do you work…

Stranger Things Watch Party

Hey everyone! I got a fun little announcement for everyone: Fandom will be starting up community Watch Parties, kicking things off with some supernatural, somewhat horror (depending whom you ask) strangeness with Stranger Things! The first watch party will be next week on Friday, April 9, at 5 PM EST! Mandy, a Fandom Community Manager, will be hosting 2 episodes every Friday in April at the same time until we finish Season 1.

So if you're interested, come join us for some fun at https://scener.com/fandom. Give us a follow there if you want updates on when we go live. R.I.P. David R. Ellis

-2013]] Film director David R. Ellis passed away today on January 8th, 2013 at the age of 60. While he may not have been the most well-known personage in the horror industry, he still put his stamp on the genre directing such notable films as Final Destination 2, Snakes on a Plane, The Final Destination and Shark Night 3D. Sixty is way too young an age to go. You will be missed Mister Ellis.

28 Stereotypes Later

Now I find the film 28 Days Later to be decidedly favorable. Not a repeat-viewing spectacle mind you, but satisfying nonetheless. That being said, there is one element to the movie that I find kind of souring. For some reason, wayyyyy too many films these days have a gratuitous anti-military slant to them. Don't get me wrong; I'm not one of these flag-waving, jingoist super-ultra-pro-military nutjobs, but I respect the commitment, dedication and sacrifice required of anyone who chooses the military as their career vocation. On the other hand, I also recognize that there are some pretty terrible people out there who do some pretty terrible things. With that in mind, I was a bit disheartened to see the soldiers from 28 Days Later being presente…

Does Kane Hodder need to choke a bitch?

chokes The Headhunter]]

For those of you who don't pay attention to screen credits, Kane Hodder is an actor/stunt coordinator best known for playing the role of Jason Voorhees in the seventh through tenth installments of the Friday the 13th franchise. Granted, those movies were the sucky ones, but no one can deny that Hodder's Voorhees is the kick-assingest of them all. Now I have been to plenty of comic, horror and sci-fi conventions over the years, and I've met my fair share of celebrities, but none of them were as memorable as that sunny afternoon this past October at "Spooky Empire" when I got to meet "da man". Everything you may have read or heard about Kane Hodder is absolutely true. He is cool, approachable and more than willing to wa…
