The Blissfield Police Department is a fictional organization featured in the 2020 slasher comedy Freaky. There seems to be a small matter of confusion relating to this entity as the officer badges clearly identify it as a police department in service to a municipality, though other officers are identified by the title of Deputy, which would make it a county office.

The Blissfield Police Department is a law enforcement agency whose jurisdiction includes the town of Blissfield. It was a rather small town, and as such did not have a large police staff. Charlene Kessler worked for the department as a police officer as well as a deputy named Jim Hayworth and another deputy named Parsons.

In November, 2020, an urban legend come to life known as the Blissfield Butcher began slaughtering teenagers who attended class at Blissfield Valley High School. A surviving victim was Charlene's younger sister, Millie. The Butcher had attacked Millie using an ancient cursed dagger known as La Dola. When the Butcher stabbed Millie, the curse was activated switching their consciousnesses into each other's bodies. The Blissfield Butcher evaded capture, but La Dola was recovered by the police and placed inside of an evidence locker.

The following evening, Millie (trapped inside the Butcher's body) convinced her friends Nyla Chones and Josh Detmer that they needed to recover the dagger in order to reverse the curse. Nyla went to police headquarters and spoke with Charlene. When Charlene left the room momentarily, she attempted to swipe the dagger. Charlene returned to the room and, suspecting the teenager of doing something shifty, pulled a gun on her. Millie entered the station in a defensive posture, but Charlene, believing it to be the Butcher, immediately opened fire. Millie avoided getting shot, but Charlene got the drop on her and marched her to a cell. Millie was able to turn the tables on her sister, disarming her, and placing her into the cell instead.

On Friday the 13th, The Butcher (inside of Millie's body) began slaughtering teens at a Homecoming party being held at the Old Mill. As things erupted into chaos, Deputies Hayworth and Parsons arrived on the scene and began firing their sidearms into the air to clear the room.

Moments later, Millie, Nyla and Chones succeeded in wrestling the Butcher to the ground. Millie stabbed the Butcher with the mystic knife, thus returning their spirits back into their proper bodies and ending the curse. As Parsons and Haworth arrived on the scene, the Butcher rose to his feet. Josh shouted "Shoot that motherfucker!", which they did. [2]

Notes & Trivia[]

  • Apparently in Blissfield, 18-year-old gay boys have the authority to tell police officers who they should shoot. Who knew?
