"Underwater" is the ninth episode of season one of the suspense thriller series Bates Motel. The episode was directed by Tucker Gates and written by Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin based on story concepts developed by Ehrin, Cuse and Anthony Cipriano. It first aired on A&E on Monday, May 13th, 2013. In this episode, Jake Abernathy decides to unrattle Norma Bates by leaving the rotting corpse of Zack Shelby in her bedroom. Dylan and Remo return with the harvesters and they book up all of the rooms at the Bates Motel. Norma is not pleased by their extracurricular activities. Norman Bates grows close with Miss Watson, who encourages him to keep up with his writing skills. Meanwhile, Bradley Martin asks Dylan to bring her to her father's old office.
