"The Truth" is the sixth episode of season one of the suspense thriller series Bates Motel. The episode was directed by Tucker Gates and written by Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin. It first aired on A&E on Monday, April 22nd, 2013. In this episode, Norma Bates learns the truth about her new love interest, Zack Shelby, and his involvement with Keith Summers and their Asian slave ring. Shelby turns against Norma and tries to kill both she and her sons. Dylan Massett gets them out of the house and defends his family against the psychotic deputy. Also, Norma tells Dylan the truth about what really happened to her ex-husband, Sam Bates.
