"Nice Town You Picked, Norma" is the second episode of season one of the suspense thriller series Bates Motel. The episode was directed by Tucker Gates and written by Kerry Ehrin based on story concepts developed by Ehrin, Carlton Cuse and Anthony Cipriano. It first aired on A&E on Monday, March 25th, 2013.
In this episode, Norman Bates' half-brother Dylan Massett shows up at the Bates Motel. He is out of income and out of a place to stay and now has to rely upon his estranged mother Norma for assistance. When Dylan's rudeness towards his mother becomes too much, Norman has a black out and tries to kill his brother by bludgeoning him with a meat tenderizer. Bradley Martin's father, Jerry Martin, is severely burned in an automobile accident - possibly as a result of his involvement in White Pine Bay's criminal enterprises. Later, Norman and Emma Decody investigate the mystery of the sketchbook, which leads them to massive marijuana field up in the mountains.
