"Midnight" is the tenth episode of season one of the suspense thriller series Bates Motel. The episode was directed by Tucker Gates and written by Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin based on story concepts developed by Ehrin, Cuse and Anthony Cipriano. It first aired on A&E on Monday, May 20th, 2013. In this episode, Norma Bates is terrified over what to do about Jake Abernathy. She convinces Dylan to train her how to use a gun. Alex Romero decides to settle the Jake Abernathy matter in his own way and agrees to meet up with him at the scheduled time instead of Norma. Norman Bates and Emma Decody go to the Winter Dance, but Richard Sylmore is not at all happy with Norman for having slept with Bradley and decides to teach Norman a lesson.
