Notes & Trivia[]

  • This series is rated TV-MA. It contains strong language and scenes of graphic violence. Viewer discretion is advised.
  • This is the second time that Ash Williams has traveled backwards through time. The first was when he went to the Middle Ages back in the Army of Darkness feature film.
  • This is the first appearance of Tanya. She is not a character featured in the original film series. She appears next in "Second Coming".
  • This is the first appearance of the 1982 iteration of Ruby Knowles. She is distinguished from her modern era incarnation by her blonde hair. She appears next in "Second Coming".

Allusions[]

  • There are several notable film posters that can be seen at the movie theater in the beginning of the episode including Poltergeist, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and Friday the 13th Part 3, all of which were released in 1982. There is also a poster for Stripes, released in 1981, and The Hills Have Eyes, which was released back in 1977.
  • Ash Williams posits the idea of knowing the sports scores for the next thirty years, with the notion of profiting on these results by placing bets. This notion is a call-back to the 1989 film Back to the Future Part II, where Marty McFly entertained a similar notion, which was ultimately carried out by his rival Biff Tannen.
  • Ash Williams makes an indirect reference to Army of Darkness, released in 1992. In the film, Ash traveled back in time to the Middle Ages.
