The show is based on the cult classic 1981 film The Evil Dead, as well as its various sequels. The episode was directed by Mark Beesley with a script written by Hank Chilton. - Ash Williams makes reference to Nurse Ratched in this episode. Mildred Ratched is a character featured in the 1962 novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by author Ken Kesey. The character has also been presented in the 1975 film adaptation of the novel where she was played by actress Louise Fletcher. The character was fleshed out in greater detail in the Ratched television series on Netflix where she was portrayed by American Horror Story star Sarah Paulson.
