Anthony Steward Head is a British actor born in Camden, London, England on February 20th, 1954. He is best known for playing the role of scholarly Watcher Rupert Giles on the 1997-2003 television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He appeared in 123 of 145 total episodes of the show. Although he was a mainstay character through seasons one through five, his name was removed from the opening credits with season six, though she still made appearances throughout the rest of the series of a fairly regular basis.
In 2007, Anthony Stewart Head made an uncredited cameo appearance in the musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. He was seen greeting Sweeney Todd following the character's hair-cutting competition with Pirelli. The following year, Tony took the lead role as Nathan, the Repo Man in the horror-musical Repo! The Genetic Opera.

- Along with Nicholas Brendon, Anthony Head is the only Buffy regular who did not make a guest appearance on the spin-off series Angel.
- Coached Buffy co-star James Marsters on how to speak properly with a British accent.
- Anthony Stewart Head was asked to appear as Rupert Giles on the "Power Play" episode of Angel, but was unavailable. His scene would have revealed the impossibility of Team Angel to save Winifred Burkle from being possessed by Illyria. The scene was rewritten for the character of Drogyn instead.
- Anthony Stewart Head makes an uncredited cameo appearance in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street as a man in the street. He appears during the hair-cutting contest between Sweeney Todd and Pirelli.
