Anthony Nelson Keys was a British film producer born in St. George's Hanover Square in London, England on November 13th, 1911. Keys is best known for his work for Hammer Film Productions, which dominated the horror film market in both the UK market and the United States during the late 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Keys first worked as a production supervisor on the 1957 sci-fi/horror movie Quatermass II with director Val Guest. He teamed up with Guest again for the stand-alone monster film The Abominable Snowman, released that same year. From there, Anthony became a major player in the re-imagined classic monster franchises beginning with 1957's The Curse of Frankenstein, which re-launched the Frankenstein franchise, followed by 1958's The Horror of Dracula, which did the same for Hammer's interpretation of Bram Stoker's classic vampire. Keys worked on many other horror films for Hammer including films within the Mummy franchise and other stand-alone works such as Curse of the Werewolf, The Gorgon and Plague of the Zombies. Keys' final film work was 1973's Nothing But the Night, directed by Peter Sasdy and starring longtime Hammer veterans Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. Anthony Nelson Keys passed away in Richmond, Surrey, England on March 19th, 1985 at the age of 73.
