Anthony Michael Hall is an American actor born in Boston, Massachusetts on April 14th, 1968. Hall started out as a child actor playing bit roles in television programs such as ABC Weekend Special and NBC Special Treat. As he got older, he began starring in films, mostly comedies. His first major role was that of Russell Griswold, son of Chevy Chase's Clark W. Griswold in the 1983 comedy National Lampoon's Vacation. Although the character appeared in all of the Vacation sequels, Hall only played the role once. Anthony Michael Hall became something of an 80s teen-icon, usually playing geeky outcasts in films such as Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and Weird Science. In 1990, Hall turned away from playing likeable underdog characters and chose a slightly more villainous role in Tim Burton's dark-fantasy film Edward Scissorhands. As the antagonist Jim, Hall served as a foil against the eponymous Edward played by another 1980s super-star, Johnny Depp. He then went on to play the role of Reggie Skulnick in the "Creep Course" episode of Tales from the Crypt. A few years later, Anthony Michael Hall took the lead role of Walter Paisley, a psychotic sculptor from Roger Corman's 1995 remake of the low-budget 1959 comedy/thriller A Bucket of Blood. In 1998, Hall appeared in the "Debt of Honor" episode of Poltergeist: The Legacy playing a character named John Griffin. The following year, he played Officer Reid Truax in the "Dead to Rights" episode of The Crow: Stairway to Heaven. In 2002, Hall landed the role of Johnny Smith, a psychic consultant in the television series The Dead Zone. The series was based on the 1979 novel by Stephen King and the 1983 film adaptation, The Dead Zone starring Christopher Walken.
