Biography[]

Angela Carter lived in the town of Fairlake in Greenbrier County in West Virginia. In the early 2000s, she served as the sheriff of the town. In October around the year 2003, Sheriff Carter was preparing Fairlake for its annual Mountain Man festival. Most of her deputies, including Deputy Biggs, were assigned to maintain order along the festival routes.

A man named Maynard Odets walked into the middle of the road while a car-load of twenty-somethings were speeding towards him. They missed him, but the car skidded off the road, colliding with a tree. The occupants, Billy, Gus, Julian, Cruz, and Lita observed Maynard laying on the ground, and went over to help. As they did so, he slashed at Billy with a knife, slicing his arm. Sheriff Carter arrived on the scene. Observing copious amounts of illegal narcotics in the vehicle, she arrested the motorists as well as Maynard Odets. Billy Brolin convinced Sheriff Carter that the drugs were his and coaxed her into letting his friends go. Maynard however, remained behind in a jail cell, where he continuously taunted Sheriff Carter, and threatened to have his "boys" kill her. The boys in question were Maynard's sons or grandsons, who were deformed inbred brutes colloquially referred to as Three Finger, One Eye and Saw Tooth.

Three-Finger, One Eye and Saw Tooth began systematically isolating the streets surrounding the police station, by cutting the power, and by stalking the youths who were connected with their father/grandfather's incarceration. As tensions mounted and the body count began to rise, Angela released Billy Brolin as well as a local in the drunk tank named Mose, and temporarily deputized them. She issued them shotguns and sent them out to find the other youths, who had gone missing. All the while, Maynard Odets continued to taunt Sheriff Carter from his jail cell.

Angela managed to find a shortwave radio that she was able to power up using a generator. She made contact with a man named Teddy, and explained the situation, pleading with him to contact the Marshall service and to come to Fairlake. Teddy didn't really believe Angela, and likely did not contact the Marshalls as promised. Angela then sent Mose out to find Billy and Julian, who had failed to return to the station after conducting a search for Billy's girlfriend, Cruz. Mose got into an accident with the police truck, and was captured by the brothers. Angela went out to help Mose, leaving Lita behind at the station by herself with Maynard. During this time, Maynard convinced Lita to set him free, but after she did so, he attacked her, gouging out her eyes.

As Angela searched throughout the town, she came upon Jason trapped in his car, and attempted to free him. Opening the door set off a booby-trap that triggered a blade to slice Jason's abdomen open, killing him. Afterward, Angela was ambushed by Three Finger who brought her back to the station.

When Angela awakened, she found herself in Maynard's cell. Her hands were tied to the ceiling, and she was forced to stand on her tiptoes with a shotgun strapped to her chest. Maynard explained that the shotgun's trigger had a rope tied on it, which was also tied to her feet, and gave her the option to either slowly burn to death as he prepared to light the station on fire or step down and be shot in the head. Maynard and the cannibals then lit the station on fire and left, and, as she began to burn, she placed her feet down, preferring to be shot rather than burn to death. [4]
