The Amityville Haunting is an American independent feature film of the haunted house subgenre of horror. It is an unofficial sequel in the Amityville Horror film series and is the first of the franchise's expanded film series line-up. Inspired by the 1977 novel The Amityville Horror by author Jay Anson, this movie is a re-imagining of the original film concept as presented in The Amityville Horror. The movie was written and directed by Geoff Meed based on a story treatment by Meed. It was produced by The Asylum and Taut Productions and was released direct-to-video on December 13th, 2011.
