- American Horror Story was created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. It is a seasonal anthology series that takes place within a shared continuity. Though each season is a self-contained storyline, the show recycles many of the same actors in different roles from season to season.
- This is the first appearance of Regina Ross, played by Gabourey Sidibe. Gabourey also played the role of Queenie in the season three serial, "Coven".
- This is the first and only appearance of Andy, who dies in this episode. Actor Matt Bomer is best known for his work on the USA Network television series White Collar. Matt also appeared in the movie Magic Mike with True Blood actor Joe Manganiello.
- This is the second appearance of Lillian Hemmings. For fans of 1980s sitcoms, actress Celia Weston is best known for playing the role of Mel's Diner waitress Jolene Hunnicutt on Alice.
