Season Eleven of the seasonal anthology series American Horror Story aired on the FX Network and Hulu from October 19th, 2022 to November 16th, 2022, spanning a total of ten episodes. The season is billed under the subtitle "NYC", and differed from previous seasons by airing two episodes per evening. Four episodes aired in October, with the remaining six airing in November. This season stars Russell Tovey as Patrick Read along with Joe Mantello as Gino Barelli, Charlie Carver as Adam Carpenter, Billie Lourd as Doctor Hannah Wells, Denis O'Hare as Henry, Leslie Grossman as Barbara Read, Sandra Bernhard as Fran, Isaac Powell as Theo Graves, Zachary Quinto as Sam, and Patti LuPone as Kathy Pizazz.

The setting for season eleven is New York City in the year 1981. The series does a deep dive into the underground gay culture of the early 1980s and centers on a mystery involving a serial kidnapper & murderer who is stalking leather bars and targeting gay men. Something larger is at play however as a scientist named Doctor Hannah Wells discovers an infectious virus that is killing animals, and runs the risk of spreading to the human population. What links exist tying the secret of this mysterious virus to the acts of a serial killer and the murder of gay men? Only Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk know for sure!

Billie Lourd has previously played Winter Anderson in season seven's "Cult", as well as Mallory in season eight's "Apocalypse", Montana Duke in season nine's "1984", and Lark Feldman from the "Red Tide" segment of season ten's "Double Feature".
Actress Leslie Grossman previously played Meadow Wilton in "Cult", as well as Coco St. Pierre Vanderbilt in "Apocalypse", Margaret Booth in "1984", and Ursula Khan in "Double Feature".
This is the first time that Sandra Bernhard has taken on a starring role in American Horror Story. However, she did make a brief appearance as a cult leader named Hannah in "Soujourn" in season eight's "Apocalypse".
Actress Patti LuPone previously played Christian fundamentalist Joan Ramsey in the season three storyline "Coven".
Charlie Carver also co-wrote four episodes of the series. He wrote "Thank You for Your Service", "Black Out", "Fire Island", and "Requiem 1981/1987 Part Two".
Charlie Carver also appeared in season one of the Netflix series Ratched, which starred Sarah Paulson, who has been a mainstay starring actress on American Horror Story.
