Alexandre Aja is a French film director born in Paris, France on August 7th, 1978. Alexandre has become a staple of modern horror cinema, owing largely to the cult success of his 2003 film Haute Tension, which earned him the Best Director Award at the Stiges-Catalonian International Film Festival. The visceral grindhouse feel that Aja put into Haute Tension was also used to great effect in his 2006 remake of The Hills Have Eyes. In 2007, he wrote and produced the crime-thriller P2 and in 2008, he wrote and directed the Kiefer Sutherland thriller Mirrors. In 2010, Aja revisted "remake fever" once again with his over-the-top re-imagination of Joe Dante's 1978 campy killer fish film Piranha. Aja paid tribute to the progenitor of all killer fish movies, Jaws, by casting Richard Dreyfuss for a cameo role in the beginning of the film.
