The character of Morbius was created by writer Roy Thomas, artist Gil Kane and inker Frank Giacoia. He first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #101 in October, 1971 in a story titled "A Monster Called... Morbius!" The character has since headlined his own serial in Adventure Into Fear, had two of his own ongoing titles as well as a reprint series and has made appearances in numerous other books such as Vampire Tales.
This issue carries the approval stamp of the Comics Code Authority.
According to Comic Reader #120, this issue shipped to retailers on July 15th, 1975.
Martine Bancroft makes reference to when Michael Morbius attempted to take his own life shortly after becoming a living vampire. This took place in Amazing Spider-Man #102.
One of the party guests looks suspiciously a lot like the Marvel Comics version of Dracula, though this is not him.
