The character of Morbius was created by writer Roy Thomas, artist Gil Kane and inker Frank Giacoia. He first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #101 in October, 1971 in a story titled "A Monster Called... Morbius!" The character has since headlined his own serial in Adventure Into Fear, had two of his own ongoing titles as well as a reprint series and has made appearances in numerous other books such as Vampire Tales.
The tagline to this issue is "Is he man -- or Monster -- or Both?"
Inker Jack Abel is credited as J. Abel in this issue.
Beginning with this issue, Morbius, the Living Vampire becomes the title spotlight, and will remain so throughout the rest of the series.
This is the first and only appearance of date of Paty and Steve, who are Judy's friends.
The organ tabby cat that runs across Judy's path belongs to a woman named Mrs. Ferguson; referenced only in this issue.
This issue includes a flashback to when Morbius fought up against Spider-Man and the Human Torch, which took place in Marvel Team-Up #3 in July, 1972.
