Holden Crane compares the Man-Thing to a six-foot Hobbit. A Hobbit is a diminutive fantasy creature featured in the Lord of the Rings book and film series as first envisioned by author J.R.R. Tolkein. Crane's comparison is somewhat odd as the Man-Thing looks nothing like a Hobbit. Additionally, the Man-Thing is well over seven feet tall, not six feet.
