Adrienne Barbeau is an American film actress born in Sacramento, California on June 11th, 1945. Her first role in a horror feature was the 1979 film The Darker Side of Terror. That same year she married film director John Carpenter and was the central character in his 1980 haunting thriller The Fog. In 1982, she played the role of Alice Cable in Wes Craven's adaptation of the DC Comics horror super-hero The Swamp Thing. That same year, she also appeared in "The Crate" segment of Stephen King's Creepshow playing the part of Wilma Northrup. She made a behind-the-scenes cameo appearance as the voice of the computer that gets destroyed early on in Carpenter's remake of The Thing.
Adrienne Barbeau broke away from the horror genre, and film in general following the The Thing, preferring to revisit her old television routes. Her next horror movie was not until 1995 when she played the role of the Rat Queen in the semi-exploitative direct-to-video feature Burial of the Rats (based on a short story by Bram Stoker). In 2004, she appeared in Ring of Darkness playing a character named Alex and in 2007 she played Martha in Unholy.
