"A is for Apocalypse" is the first vignette featured in the 2012 anthology film The ABCs of Death. It was written and directed by Nacho Vigalondo.
Somewhere in a Spanish speaking country, a man lies in his bed. A woman, presumably his spouse, walks into the room brandishing a knife. She begins lunging at him, but the man tries to defend himself with a breakfast tray. She manages to slice the knife through two of his fingers. She then manages to shove the knife into his throat. The man is still alive however. The woman goes into the kitchen and retrieves a frying pan filled with burning oil and fries. She throws the oil onto the man's face, then clubs multiple times over the head with the frying pan. The man, still conscious, just continues to stare at her. Frustrated, she finally stops. She goes to the window where she can hear the sounds of massive carnage taking place outside. She then kneels by the bed and tells the man that events were not supposed to happen this way. She confesses that she had been poisoning him for over a year. However, now that she realizes that the world is about to end as a result of some undisclosed Apocalypse, she decided to step up her timetable. She apologizes and says that it was going to be better, but they didn't have time. The man's head slumps over, and the woman sits in the bed next to him to await the end of the world.
